Although Uber has relationships with several airline and hotel loyalty programs, it has so far stopped short of launching its own program. That changes this week, with the announcement of a simple buy-nine-get-one-free offer in conjunction with Capital One.
Through March 2017,
Uber
customers who pay for their rides with a Capital One Quicksilver or QuicksilverOne credit card will receive every tenth ride, costing up to $15, free.

In conjunction with the new promotion, Uber has added a Payment Rewards section to its app, where users can track their progress and manage their rewards, either using the freebie for the next ride or saving it for a future trip.
Although no specifics are mentioned in Uber's announcement, it's apparent that the company is planning to add other credit card-based discounts or rewards. The Payment Rewards section of the Uber app says "Use these payment methods to get ride discounts"; and below the Capital One logo is this: "More coming soon."
So rather than immediately run out and apply for a Capital One card, Uber loyalists might want to wait and see whether a card already in their wallets is brought onboard as an Uber rewards partner.
