  • Guam Warnings and Dangers

  • Guam is an exotic locale in the Pacific that tourists flock to for good reason. It may not be paradise, but it is close. It can be a great vacation, but like anywhere else, there are some things to be aware of. Here are some tips on Guam warnings and dangers:

  • Massage

  • This is more a warning than a danger, depending on your point of view. You can get a nice massage on Guam, but be aware that some are also fronts for prostitution. Other "services" are nearly always available, in addition to the massage, and most Americans would call those other "services," prostitution.

  • Thievery

  • Any tourist area is going to attract thieves, because tourists are on vacation and may not be paying attention to their valuables, making them an easy target. Watch your property carefully, and don't leave it where it can be easily stolen. Some say the Guam police are not very helpful and do not have capabilities to take fingerprints after a robbery.

  • Prices

  • It should not be too surprising that things cost more on Guam. Everything has to be imported, and Guam is a long way from just about anywhere. Locals can price gouge too if they think you are a tourist, so try to not stand out.

  • Wildlife

  • Be careful when jumping in the ocean, as it is teeming with life, and stepping on things can get you hurt. The same is true on dry land. There is a lot of nature here, so just be warned and be watchful.
