Have an old Kindle, tablet, Fire Stick, Echo, smartphone, video game, or other gadget gathering dust in your house? Turn it in to an Amazon gift card without leaving your couch through Amazon’s easy and free trade-in program.
Most people don’t know that Amazon has a (not very well advertised) trade-in program that lets you mail in your old device in exchange for a gift card, and a discount on a newer version. Amazon will even send you a free prepaid label to mail in your old item.
The trade-in program accepts both Amazon products and other brands including Apple iPads, Samsung Galaxies, Google items, and more. Broken or non-functioning devices are also accepted.
Simply visit Amazon’s trade-in page to instantly get an offer on your item. Honestly answer questions about the condition of your product (if it’s working and if it can hold a charge), and Amazon will let you know how much it’s worth. If after you send your item in, Amazon decides not to accept it, they will mail it back to you for free.
If you’re upgrading a device, you’ll also get a bonus discount on the new item. For example, if you’re trading in a tablet for a new Amazon Fire Tablet, you’ll get a gift card plus a bonus 20 percent off your new purchase. Use your trade-in on a new Echo device, and you’ll save 25 percent.
