Ride the Train from Lisbon

Going from Lisbon to Sintra is easy and affordable. You can take a train to Sintra from the Rossio or Entrecampos train stations in Lisbon. The journey isn’t long and should take no more than 50 minutes. You can find train times, details, and fares, in English on the Portuguese railway website. The trains run every fifteen minutes, and tickets can be bought just outside the platform.

Take a Bus Ride

Once you are in town, the best way of getting around all the sites—which are fairly spread out—is to take the circular 434 bus. Tickets are less than five euros for the whole day and can be purchased from the bus driver. Bus 434 travels from Sintra to various attractions in the area that include the National Palace, the Moorish Castle, and the Pena Palace. Bus 435 stops near the Museo do Brinquedo and the National Palace (Sintra Vila), then goes to Quinta da Regaleira. Finally, it travels to the Palace of Seteais and to Montserrate.

Horse Carriage

In the center of town, just outside the Royal Palace. you will find several horse-drawn carriages. These make for a fun way of touring the town. The trip can be a little on the pricey side, but it makes for a lovely journey through Sintra.
