Although the timing won’t be much help for would-be summer travelers, this United award sale for fall travel has a lot to recommend it.
Between June 20 and June 28, MileagePlus members can book restricted United coach award flights to Europe for 25 percent fewer miles, for travel between August 23 and March 31.
The discounted award travel is blacked out between December 15, 2016, and January 8, 2017.
Deal or No Deal
With the discount, roundtrip award flights to Europe cost 45,000 miles instead of the 60,000 miles normally required. That’s a significant saving.
Even factoring in the blackout period, the discounted travel period is almost seven months. That gives travelers plenty of time to work a trip into their schedules. Also nice.
The worst that can be said of this offer is that you only have until June 28 to book at the discounted rates.
If you have United miles, and a hankering to visit Europe, just do it!
