Author: Jill Weinlein
Date of Trip: May 2016

Drive up to the Butterfly design roof and hand the valet your keys before grabbing an overnight bag. A staff member will lead you to the mid-century style bar in the front of the ARRIVE resort. A friendly bartender will hand you a complimentary welcome drink, while registering you for your stay. Another staff member will lead you to one of the 32 guest rooms surrounding an inviting swimming pool.

At this new style hotel wi-fi is free and smart phones are encouraged, because there are no landline phones. Guests and staff members communicate by text. It starts before you ARRIVE to Palm Springs and continues throughout your stay to make sure all of your needs are met. It’s a new Millennial destination in Palm Springs, yet Baby Boomers feel cool and hip staying here too.

This restoration-style, modern boutique property is a project by one of Facebook’s founders Erza Callahan. After leaving Facebook in 2010, Callahan created a real estate company, Artist and Recreation, LLC. ARRIVE and the attached restaurant Reservoir offering 80 seats in his newest project.

Some rooms offer outdoor private sitting patios with Modfire fireplaces in the front. Rooms offer stylish neutral colors furnished with a king-sized bed. There is rusted steel, wood and concrete surfaces. Listen to Lola headphones by Blue or watch DirecTV and Apple TV.

Callahn made sure the minibars in each room are sensibly priced. The bathrooms have elegant Malin & Goetz bath products and a rain shower and wet room.

Guests can be seen lounging around the rectangular swimming pool with extra large black inner tubes for floating on top of the water. Up to 20 people can socialize in the large hot whirlpool. Other guests hang out in the poolside cabanas with a firepit to set a festive mood and keep guest warm on chilly desert nights.

Near the pool is a Bocce court and two ping pong tables for recreation. One doesn’t need to get into their car, because guests are welcome to take one of the resort’s bicycles to explore the Uptown area of Palm Springs and beyond.

Dining options include the innovative California cuisine at restaurant. Guests may sit inside or out on the al fresco patio. There is a Juice bar near the bar, Customs Coffee shop featuring Joshua Tree Coffee and an artisan ice cream shop making their own homemade ice creams.

Each room offers a Palm Springs booklet featuring the staffs favorite places to eat, drink and explore in the desert.
