Which trends are taking hold in your city?
Last month Yelp launched Yelp Trends, a new feature released in honor of the website’s big 1-0. The website uses Yelp’s decade worth of data, reviews, and content to see exactly what was “hot or not” in any given year (most data starts around 2007), and to settle once and for all the question of which city really started the food truck trend.
Want to know what’s trending in New York for food? San Fran’s latest health craze? The site lets you enter up to three search terms per city, with data for 98 major cities across 20 countries. Users can then pick a corresponding category from restaurants and nightlife, active life, shopping, health and medical, and beauty and spas. Brunch in Paris vs. Brunch in New York City
So the Europeans are finally realizing just how great brunch is, while we North Americans have been enjoying our Bloody Marys for quite some time.
Donut vs. Cronut in New York City
This settles it. The donut reigns supreme.
Hot Yoga vs. CrossFit in LA and New York City
Looks like both cities are in on the CrossFit craze, but it’s taking a stronger hold in L.A.
Craft Beer in Nashville vs. Craft Beer in Brooklyn
Both cities are increasing their craft beer consumption but it looks like the trend started hitting Music City hard in 2008 before it really took hold in the hipster mecca.
Coffee vs. Tea in London
This shocked us all. Except for one short stint of tea domination in 2007, coffee is actually more popular in London!
