Doha is both the largest city and capital of the State of Qatar. With a large domestic population and a significant tourism industry, there have arisen several hotel bars for visitors to the region.
Alcohol is usually off-limits in Doha, except in a few posh hotels. The Pearl is officially the only Club in town. It’s a two-story location with three bars and a large dance floor. It’s considered a prime hotspot among Lebanese and European partygoers. The main drawback is that it is a member’s only club. Luckily, each member is allowed to bring in two male guests.
On the top floor of the Rydges Hotel is the Aussie Legends Sports Bar. Lots of matches are shown on TV here. Wednesday is Ladies Night, when ladies get free cocktails from between seven and 10 in the evening. At other times, drinks are priced at much the same rate as elsewhere in Doha.
StreetNoyz is a Filipino band that plays every single night at the sports bar in the Ramada Hotel. It consists of the lead singer and his three female backup vocals. The bar boasts more than just a band, and has plenty of space to watch games on the surrounding televisions.
Nightlife centers around the hotels in the city, each of which offers a different bar experience. Cloud Nyn is located in the Al Sadd Merweb Hotel. The club is a little dark, although the waiters’ trays helpfully light up when they serve you. Take the lift down from the lobby in the Sheraton, and you’ll get to one of the newer bars in Doha: The Irish Harp. The Irish Harp has a great atmosphere, live music, and actually looks and smells like an Irish pub. You can also smoke there. Garvey’s European Family Club offers karaoke, moderate prices, and great food. The meals are absolutely delicious, and with a wide-ranging menu, you’ll never need to eat the same thing twice.
