Transportation in Singapore: Buses to Melaka, Malaysia

Many tourists who want to visit Melaka and Singapore in the same trip take a bus to travel between the cities. If you’re planning on riding the bus, these tips from past travelers will help you travel like a pro.

General Bus Information

The bus ride from Melaka to Singapore takes approximately four hours. You can leave from several bus stops, such as the The Lavender St. Bus Station and Queenstreet bus station.

You can buy your tickets any time, but most travelers recommend advance tickets, especially during national holidays and peak periods. Otherwise you risk tickets being sold out and being unable to get to Singapore. You can buy tickets from several companies at easibook.com or to buy advance tickets at a bus terminal.

Bus Companies

A number of different bus companies run the route in comfortable coach buses. Although the routes are all similar, the companies differ slightly in their approach.

Travelers give high reviews to the 707 Singapore Express. It is generally reliable and the least expensive company, but it uses older buses. You often need to book two weeks in advance.

Other companies include Melina Express, which uses newer buses than the 707, and Imperial Bus. Be warned that the Imperial’s Melaka Bus stop is a 40 minute drive from Melaka. Travelers also report problems with Imperial Bus’ reliability.
