You Need This Color-Coded 4-in-1 Adapter

SmarterTravel

What Is it: Flight 001 4-in-1 Adapter

Price and Where to Buy: $25, available at Flight 001

Pros: It’s small, and the plugs fit together into a single, lego-like block for easy transport. The single unit also lessens the chance of losing individual plugs, which, if you’re anything like me, is why you keep having to buy adapters over and over again. Figuring out which adapter you’ll need is as easy because the plugs are color-coded.

Cons: It’s not a converter, which isn’t a con unless you assume it’s both a converter and an adapter and plug in an electronic item that isn’t dual voltage. (Spud Hilton has a 60-second primer if you need a refresher course on the difference.)

How it Rates:

  • Usefulness: 10/10 It’s easy to use, easy to pack, and easy to store.
  • Value: 9/10. It’s competitively priced, and since its design keeps all the adapters together, you’re less likely to lose a plug and have to buy a whole new set.
  • Durability: 10/10. The plugs are sturdy—and that’s important when you’re on the road and plugging and unplugging your gear into a different outlet each night.
  • Cool Factor: 10/10. The colorful block is like the most useful Lego you’ve ever owned.

Final Verdict: Keeping track of adapter parts between trips and remembering which plugs to use where is a nuisance. This is an adapter that is realistic about the way people use adapters. The four plugs fit together so they store easily, and they’re color-coded so you can figure out which you’ll need.
