Weekly Weird: Put Down the Snack (and the Vodka)

Waste not, want not, right? The Huffington Post reports that a flyer at Dulles International Airport was told that she couldn’t bring her handle of Smirnoff Vodka through security, so she started drinking it and sharing with her fellow passengers—at 7:30 am. The TSA was reportedly not amused.

Better put down that gelato! The Telegraph reports that a new law has been enacted in Rome which could punish tourists with a fine of up to 500 Euros for snacking around monuments and other attractions in the city’s historic center. The ordinance reads, “It is forbidden to encamp or erect makeshift shelters and stop to eat or drink in zones which have a particular historic or architectural value,” so you better not get that slice of pizza to go if you visit.

Fired from your last job? Try the TSA for new employment! ABC News reports that a Catholic priest who was defrocked after allegedly sexually abusing children was then hired by the TSA, and has worked at the Philadelphia International Airport for the last 10 years. The TSA responded to the allegations by saying, “Every single TSA employee undergoes a comprehensive background check, which includes criminal history. An allegation alone does not warrant dismissal or automatically disqualify applicants from employment with TSA.”
