Wear jeans to dinner on Norwegian cruises

[% 12025 | | Norwegian %] has always been the poster child for casual cruising. Its “Freestyle Cruising” concept features a resort casual dress policy—no formal nights or required dressing up. You may not have thought it possible, but Norwegian has recently announced an even more laid-back dress code.

Guests may now wear jeans to dinner at all but one restaurant onboard. Although the designated dressy venue will vary per ship, it will typically be the aft main dining room. Cruisers who like to dress up are always welcome to do so, but casual travelers will no longer have to trade their jeans for slacks or a skirt in order to go to dinner. Bathing suits and shorts are still not allowed in the restaurants during the evenings.

Are you excited about the new casual policy, or do you feel a lack of a dress code diminishes the cruise experience? Or, are you blasé, having seen guests in jeans at dinner on Carnival or Royal Caribbean cruises? Cruisers may vary in opinion, but Norwegian should be applauded for being true to itself. Jeans at dinner is in keeping with its Freestyle theme, and if you don’t like it, there are many other great lines that will let you dress up every evening.
