Date of Trip: August 2010
It was almost 1:00 PM when we arrive to Venice ST. Termini station me and my wife 2 daughters and my 1.5 year son were very excited during our trip from Rome to Venice the wonderful scene we look at it from our window train was amazing so we didn’t feel the distance between Rome & Venice any how it was about 4 hours , as we step down from the station stairs carrying our luggage we all stop at the first step to watch the most wonderful Scene of the canal and all the boats with people rush in and out, we toke a few pictures and then walk to our Hotel which I chose it near by the station so we can easily move with our luggage, after a few blocks we reach our hotel check in leave our luggage in the room and rush in to begin our Venice adventure (by he way our room had a 2 level bed and my children was so happy about it).
We start to walk towards San Mark Square with the help of some maps which I’ve printed from Google, in our way to the square we watch the small bazaars showing the beautiful masks and morano glass i buy 2 masks for my 2 daughters they were very happy and they wear it and keep telling the famous sentence “What happen in Venice Stay in Venice”. Going through the narrow streets of Venice to San Marco square we get lost in some streets , Venice is the city where you love to be lost in it’s narrow streets to explore more from this quit and amazing city.
It is 3:00 PM and we all very hungry so we stop at one of the restaurant around the corner of a small square and have our first pizza and spaghetti in Venice , it was good but not amazing , and then we start our trip again to San Marco and to Rialto Bridge, so many signage tell that rialto bridge in that direction and then you find another one at the opposite direction say the same, it was fun to be lost around and stepping up and down of those small bridges along the small canals taking pictures and enjoying the spectacular scene. At last we are standing on Rialto bridge looking down to the grand Canal with the gondola and vaporetto sailing every where at sun set this image will stay on our mind forever, it was very crowded on the bridge but we manage to take the pictures and step down to San Marco Square at last we are there my children run towards the pigeon to feed them and me and my wife stand in the middle of the square to look around watching all the landmarks that we have seen and read about, the Bell Tower,Basilica di San Marco, the arcade of Procuratie Vecchie and Nuove,Caffe Florian and Ristorante Gran Caffe Quadri. It was sun set time and the whether is very nice and the music traveling around the square from the two caffe it was unforgettable evening. Heading back to the hotel we grape pizza from one shop it taste like heaven my daughter said ” it is the first time i eat pizza in my life” yes pizza in Italy with the wooden oven effect and romantic atmosphere of Venice is some thing else this really make our day.
After a long day we reach our hotel which is located near ST termini station in a very narrow street but it was very clean and the owner is very friendly now we all need a good sleep to start our second day in Venice so see you in my next report bye.
