If you want a quiet winter vacation away from the crowds, Venice may be the place. Positives: No crowds, even during spring break; nice beach, shopping; restaurants; fitness clubs; and it is relatively inexpensive. Negatives: Limited number of short term beach rentals; and cooler average winter temperatures than Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. You usually don't go into the Gulf until late March. A great place to spend the winter.
