In a developing story, a US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River (near midtown Manhattan) after an apparent bird strike disabled both engines. The plane appeared to be intact and not visibly damaged, and passengers were evacuated by Coast Guard and New York-area ferries. Early reports suggest the pilot was able to conduct a controlled emergency water landing. All passengers and crew appear to have survived.
CNN, MSNBC, and other large news outlets are providing up-to-the-minute reporting and visuals.
US Airways has posted emergency contact numbers, which you can find here.
