Located along the eastern coast of the Arabian Sea, Karachi is the capital and the largest city in Pakistan. It is also the wealthiest and one of the most populated cities in the area. There are plenty of things to do and see in the city, including restaurants, historical sights and shops.
Rich in history, Karachi has numerous temples to explore. From the Temple of Sati in the Hingoil National Park to the Hinglaj Temple in Balochistan you can see firsthand the places deemed sacred by the locals.
If you are looking to haggle like a citizen be sure to take in one of the small markets within the area. The town of Hala lies just to the north of Karachi. It is known for its beautiful blue and white ceramics, woven textiles and painted furniture. If you want to grab something to read, Frere Hall offers a book fair on Sundays, you can also check out some beautiful handmade items at the Zainab Market.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and people by taking a boat tour of the mangroves. This fast disappearing habitat is home to shrimp, crab, fish and a variety of other sea creatures and birds. The water is only a few feet deep in some spots, so only small boats can navigate the waters and once you arrange the trip with a local fisherman, you are required to pay whether you go or not.
