Twenty-five tips for saving on Europe travel

With the euro on the rise, and the pound already doubling the U.S. dollar, many Americans have shelved their dreams of a European vacation. However, there are still ways to go to Europe, without spending your life savings. Thanks to a recent MSNBC article, you can now apply the top 25 ways to save on a trip across the Atlantic, and not come back with empty pockets.

The tips range from fairly obvious actions such as finding free entertainment to the more detailed sort like buying a city pass which offers discounts. It’s also advisable to skip the whirlwind tour of the country, and instead focus on one particular area to cut down on transportation costs.

In my own travels around Europe, I’ve found several of these cost-efficient tips quite useful, including renting an apartment, eating a big lunch and light dinner, skipping cabs for rail, and using ATMs for cash. Though there is no magical way to make Europe cheap, you can still visit the Continent on a budget and get way more than your money’s worth.
