Calle San Miguel
Calle San Miguel is a busy pedestrian area of Torremolinos and the heart of the town’s old quarter. It begins at the Pimentel Tower and runs through to the Costa del Sol Plaza. There are all kinds of shops along this street, ranging from clothing to jewelry, shoes, and gift shops. Visitors will also find many restaurants and cafes to visit. It’s also an attractive place to go for a walk, since the flooring is lined with terracotta tiles and inlaid patterns.
There are five beaches in Torremolinos: Playa de Los Álamos, Playa de Playamar, Playa del Bajondillo, Playa de la Carihuela, and Playa de Montemar. Strolling along any of the beaches at midnight makes for an enchanting evening, and the moonlight reflects perfectly off of the waters. During the day, you can stop for some spit-roasted sardines, which are a favorite dish of local beach goers.
There are several churches in the area that are worth a visit. The Church of San Carmen is dedicated to Saint Carmen, the patron saint of sailors and fisherman. Another place to visit is the parish church of San Miguel Arcángel, which is constructed in the neo-classical style and makes for a lovely sight against the sky.
