Timisoara Warnings and Dangers
Do Not Get Lost: Bring a Map
For some strange reason, it is easy to get lost in Timisoara. Obtain a free map from your hotel or buy a map. Your explorations will go more smoothly if you explore with a map.
Mosquitoes Love the Area Almost as Much as Humans
Bring an insect repellant if you plan to visit Timisoara during the hot summer months. Hotels, restaurants and the actual city feature an abundant supply of mosquitoes. The tiny insects may pose a greater danger than anything else found in the city.
You Will Not Find a Bus or Train in Timisoara
You will either need to rent a car or take a taxi if you want to get to your hotel after you arrive at the airport. Even though you are going to see many taxi drivers hovering around the airport, do not take a ride with any of these dishonest drivers. Taxi drivers hanging around the airport are apt to charge you five times more money than the standard fare. The same advice applies to the railway station. Bring your mobile phone. Make it a point to enter a few reliable taxi company phone numbers into your contacts list before you leave home. Regarding the railway station, beware of burglars who are more than willing to pick your pocket and take your wallet.
