Prague Travel Warnings and Dangers
Prague is one of the most visited cities in Eastern Europe thanks to its picturesque architecture and music and art scenes. The historic city is beautiful inside and out, but there are still some things to be aware of before visiting.

Is Prague Safe?
Prague is a pleasant and safe city overall, but there are still some precautions that need to be taken. In the city center and other places frequented by tourists, you should be on the lookout for pickpockets. You might also encounter homelessness and people asking for money. Never leave your things sitting around or your wallet visible, especially at railway stations, Celakovskeho Park, and Charles Square. Be vigilant while visiting these areas, or avoid them.
Photography
Prague is a photographer’s dream: It seems that everywhere you turn there is another building unlike any other. Photography is welcome in most areas of the city, but there are some places where it’s not permitted, like in historic churches. Signs posted near the church should say if photography is allowed inside. If you have permission, you should still turn your flash off to avoid disturbing worshipers.
Validate Public Transit Tickets
Prague has one of the best public transportation systems in Europe. If you use it be sure to validate your ticket every time you ride. If you get caught riding with a ticket that isn’t validated, you could get hit with a hefty penalty. Each validation lasts about an hour and a half.
Taxis
When using taxis, hire one from a company recommended by your hotel and always make sure the driver starts the meter before you depart for your destination. Some private taxi drivers will try to overcharge tourists who don’t know the area. You can hire the cab ahead of time from your room and set a price for the trip, or have your hotel concierge call one for you. According to those who have visited the city, AAA Taxi is a reputable company.
Money Exchange Scams
Know all the terms before you use a money exchange station, or stick to ATMs. Some exchanges take hidden fees or can shortchange you.
