Tips on Porto Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Porto Warnings and Dangers

The second largest city in Portugal has a lot to offer when it comes to commerce, education, sports, entertainment and culture. However, to be safe, you should look out for common warnings and dangers in Porto.

Look Out for Conmen

There are conmen in the streets of Porto. Some of them will come running to you, acting like they are in distress. Ladies should be alert whenever this happens to them since these guys are conmen.

Be Cautious About Hassles

There are shady characters who will try to sell you things and earn money off you. You should also be on the lookout for strangers who follow you on the streets. If you notice someone following you, you can get in a crowd or walk in the opposite direction to see if they keep following you. If they persist, hop into any form of transportation to get away from them or head to a police station.

Be Alert of Your Surroundings

Although they may not necessarily pose a threat, you should be careful when walking through areas with homeless people or drug addicts. Avoid walking along dark alleys at night.

Be Sure Not to Get Lost

When you are new in Porto, you should use a map to help move around and find the places you want to visit. The streets of Porto will look identical in the eyes of a visitor and some of the places may be missing from your map. It is advisable to have someone familiar with the city by your side.

Be Careful with Car Parkers

Many of these car parkers will ask for tips once they wave you into an empty parking space. If you do not meet their demands, they may damage your car.
