Tips on Orlando Warnings and Dangers-Stay Safe!

Orlando Warnings and Dangers

Orlando, Florida is home to some of the most famous theme parks in all of the United States. People come from all over to experience Universal Studios, Disney, Island of Adventure and so many more. There are some warnings and dangers in the city you should be aware of before traveling here.

Areas to Avoid

When planning a trip here, cheap isn’t always safe when it comes to hotel rooms and exploration on the edge of the city or in rural parts, outside of the theme park areas. If it seems like too good of a deal, it probably is in a seedy part of town. Travelers and locals warn not to stay anywhere on Dickerson Pike because of rampant prostitution and drug activity. While there has been a recent movement to clean the area up, it is better to pay more for a room in the Downtown, Midtown, and Vanderbilt University sections of Orlando. Also, it is recommended that you not venture west of Interstate 4 for the above mentioned reasons.

Alligators

Orlando is 42 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean and 2 hours north of the Everglades. Central Florida is spotted with little lakes. This means that Orlando is the perfect habitat for alligators, and there are many of them taking full advantage of the lakes and sun. Horror stories of children getting snatched into lakes are sadly not myth. Though hotel security now guards the lakes to make sure tourists and children stay clear of them, and their has been an effort to hunt the population back, there is still real danger. Do not let young children or dogs play by any body of water.
