Tips on Fresno Warning or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Fresno Warnings and Dangers

Known for its culturally diverse population, Fresno has a warm and sunny climate that attracts visitors throughout the year. Along with an array of activities, fine arts and fine eateries, there are several things to keep in mind should you decide to visit.

Beware of the Crowds

Fresno is small in size and slightly overcrowded. If you prefer quiet solitude and short lines at dinner, this city will not be top on your list of favorite locales in California. The lack of housing has resulted in an explosion of buildings, which also has reduced the greenery to next to nothing. Instead of parks and flowers, expect to see many apartment buildings and businesses.

Expect a Hot Summer

Temperatures in the summer in Fresno frequently rise above the 100 degree mark and sometimes reach as high as 110 degrees. Combine high temperatures with frequent bad air quality, it can be difficult for some people to breathe. If you have asthma or suffer from any type of breathing condition it’s best to avoid the sidewalk shops and opt for the mall and air conditioning.

Avoid the Highway 99 Corridor

Most places within Fresno are perfectly safe to walk at night, but one place to avoid is the Highway 99 corridor. This location within the city is where out of area travelers come through and the crowd can sometimes be rough. Like any city, if you find yourself in a deserted location at night pay close attention to your surroundings and keep your guard up at all times.

The City is Not Near Yosemite

If you are looking to visit the Yosemite National Park, Fresno is not close to this landmark in spite of the name of the airport. The airport was named the Fresno Yosemite International airport in order to draw in crowds and revenue from visitors. The park lies over one and a half hours away, so be prepared to travel.
