Tips on Digha Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Digha Warnings and Dangers

Known as a seaside resort and tucked along the Bay of Bengal, the Indian city of Digha is a popular destination. However, visitors should still listen to warnings about local dangers in order to stay safe.

Beach Dangers

The beaches around Digha are a popular destination, but you’ll want to watch yourself while you’re walking around. There are snakes that make the beach their home, and some of them are poisonous. Make sure you watch your steps and keep an eye out for these creatures.

Outside of the snakes, high tidal waves are a significant problem. These waves sometimes make swimming difficult or completely dangerous. Old Digha’s beach isn’t as large as it used to be due to heavy soil wearing away. Now, the beach is filled by massive stones and rocks. There is high chance of getting injured while swimming if you’re not careful. Today, most people avoid the Old Digha beach and head to more popular shores of New Digha.

Old Digha vs. New Digha

Even though people are now heading to New Digha, Old Digha remains one of the most popular beaches in West Bengal. Unfortunately, that means it gets overcrowded, especially during the winter. The Old Digha beach can also get a bit dirty due to the crowds, which is yet another reason why people prefer to head to New Digha. New Digha is only two kilometers away, and is actually quite a bit larger. Another advantage to heading to New Digha is that there are numerous hotels where you can stay, and it’s easy to travel between both beaches by rickshaw.
