Tips on Chattanooga Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Chattanooga Warnings and Dangers

Chattanooga is a small city in south central Tennessee that has gorgeous mountain scenery, lots of tourist attractions and significant historical sights. It was host to Civil War battles, and of course is host to the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo. It is a relatively small city, but has some crime issues. Here are tips on Chattanooga warnings and dangers:

Contrast in Downtown

The East Main area of downtown is very trendy and chic, but very close by, just two blocks, is a very bad area. In that area there are many prostitutes and many homeless people. These people may not be dangerous in the day time, but at night it can get sketchy.  The key is to just be aware of your surroundings.

Be Careful at Night

Crime stats show Chattanooga has more than many cities its size. During the day the streets are safe, but there are real dangers at night, just about anywhere in the downtown area.  Stats show that 40 or more cars are stolen per week, so keep your car locked at all times and keep valuables out of sight.

Traffic and Weather

If you come through the mountains on Highway 24, you will find a narrow crowded highway, that is very crowded in the rush hours. This road can get very treacherous in bad weather, and there are not many alternatives once you are on this highway. Pay attention to warnings. They don’t get a lot of snow, but there is ice at times, which can create major problems.  The weather can change rapidly here, which presents dangers.
