Marco Island Tourist Traps
Marco Island is a city in Florida located on an island of the same name. Although there is plenty to see and do when visiting, there are also a few tips to keep in mind that will help you avoid tourist traps.
Avoid Expensive Chain Hotels
If you are planning to visit Marco Island, you might want to avoid staying at any of the large chain hotels that line the southern end of the island. Although they will offer a long list of features, your overall stay might not be as enjoyable as you hope. Some of these locations are on the older end and are surrounded by construction. There can also be a lot of crowding in the area. Instead, head further north, where the prices dip lower and the crowds are thinner. A fun alternative might be to rent a condo, which isn’t an incredibly expensive option. If you do choose a hotel, you can get a better bargain by working with a travel agent or consulting a hotel booking website.
Watch Where You Land
The Southwest Florida, Naples, and Marco Island airports can be very expensive, especially at peak times during the season. These prices go even higher if you book late. If you are planning on visiting Marco Island or the surrounding areas, it is best to fly into Ft. Lauderdale or Miami International Airports. These locations feature much cheaper prices, and the drive to Marco Island isn’t very long.
