Biltmore House

The Biltmore Estate is one of the most visited historic touist destinations in the US which means it can get very crowded. To avoid the masses, arrive as early as possible or make your trip in late spring or early fall. You should plan on visiting the stunning winery as well and get there at opening hours. If you are traveling with a group check to see if AAA has a discount for your tickets.

Blue Ridge Parkway

A popular activity is to drive along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and stopping for a picnic or to snap some pictures. If possible, plan your trip in the off season ( late spring or early fall) to avoid the crowds. During the fall and winter months, road closures in the Appalachians are not unheard of so be sure to visit when the weather is agreeable.


Weekends in Asheville can get packed, especially during the summer so make sure to call ahead for your lodging. The Mountaineer Inn comes highly recommended and there are many other reputable accamodations along Tunnel Road.

Civic Center Accommodations

The Civic Center usually flies under the average tourist’s radar but has lots to offer. Inside the building contains exhibit halls, a concert hall and a sports arena. There are usually events going on such as the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands and concerts. Before your trip to Asheville, check their website and see if they have any upcoming events that you can get tickets to.

Asheville has a lot to offer and is understandably a popular tourist destination. By planning ahead you can avoid the crowds and have a successful trip!
