General Travel Tips
When traveling to Angola, it’s important to follow some of the same tips as when traveling to any dangerous area. Travel in groups whenever possible. Don’t drink the water unless it comes in a closed bottle. Avoid fresh vegetables because there is no way to know how they were grown. The taxis are communal and illegal. Further, rental cars are difficult to drive because of the number of potholes. Police cars will be able to spot rental cars and will use this to find an excuse to stop the vehicle and ask for a bribe. It’s best to find contract transportation that will meet you at the airport.
