Tips on Acapulco Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Tips on Acapulco Warnings and Dangers

Acapulco, a resort beach city in Mexico, is home to beautiful beaches, great food, and even better views. However, just like any place on Earth, there are steps you can take to increase your safety and ensure you have an enjoyable, hazard-free trip to one of Mexico’s finest beaches!

Tourist Traps

As is true with most beach towns, locals are aware of where the tourists tend to congregate, and like any good businessperson, will target these areas in an attempt to close a sale. Beaches can be full of locals selling small gift items, from jewelry to hand-painted bowls. However, visitors have noted, it is important to be cautious of illegal sales such as drugs that are also commonplace on the beach. Additionally, many of the streets and beaches where gifts are being bought and sold can be crowded, so pickpocketing should be on your radar as well when perusing these areas.

Drinking Water

Those who have visited Mexico have probably been warned against drinking the regular tap water. Drinking of this water can cause upset stomach and gastrointestinal related issues. Though you may see the locals drinking the water, it is recommended against if you are not accustomed to this grade of drinking water. A stomach ache of this degree could put you on bed rest for a few days at a time and ruin your stay in beautiful Acapulco. To avoid this potential issue, ask for bottled water at restaurants and stock up at the local grocery story or market to keep bottled water in your room as well. Water that is regulated and bottled in the country should be no problem, but you will want to avoid water straight from any drain or sink if you’re playing it safe.
