Tanjungpinang Things to Do
Indonesia is vibrant with nature and culture, making it the perfect place to top your list of new locations to see. Here are some things to do in Tanjungpinang, Indonesia.
Buddhist Temple
In Tanjungpinang you’ll find an extraordinary Buddhist temple built on a hilltop with many stone sculptures- statues of 500 arahants and guanyin. It’s very relaxing and windy up on this hilltop, with a beautiful view, as well as incredible works of art to enjoy. Even the locals will tell you that they feel more peaceful and relaxed whenever they visit this lovely temple.
Banana Boat
One excursion that will be fun for young and old alike is a ride on a banana boat! Get ready for a wild ride as they take you out onto the water at exhilarating speeds!
Spa
Ready to relax and get pampered? Head over to the Tropika Spa to have a body massage. You can even book your package while in Singapore. They offer body scrubs and milk baths.
Kelong Walkway
To get to the Kelong, you can either choose the long walkway or take the speedboat. If you’re feeling adventurous take the walkway, but be warned it may feel a little unstable, though that doesn’t seem to stop the locals from driving their bikes across.
Main Street
If you’re going to visit Main Street, keep this in mind: it is overrun with motorbikes and there are no traffic lights or pedestrian crossings! Be careful as you drive or walk because it is literally survival of the quickest.
Stilt Houses
On of the fascinating wonders of Indonesia are the intriguing stilt houses. Many houses in the old section of Tanjung Pinang are still built in the traditional way: on stilts over water. Unfortunately, these days you may find some trash floating around underneath the stilted homes.
Enclosed Swimming
If you’re eager for a swim there is an enclosed swimming pool with a slide at the Kelong, and kids especially love to play inside this unique pool.
