Seaside, Oregon is a beach town about 80 miles away from Portland. There are wonderful things to do on the beach and along the coast throughout the year.

Bring a Sweater

Resting on the Pacific Ocean, Seaside stays cool throughout the year. Be sure to bring a sweater when visiting Seaside’s beautiful beaches. While on the sand, you can enjoy walking on the beach, flying kites, walking your dog, and beach fires at night.

You can also walk the historic Promenade. It is extremely popular, so it gets crowded at any time of the year. The walkway is 8,000 feet long and is accessible from dozens of streets along the beach.

Then, there is one of the most scenic places in the Pacific Northwest called Cannon Beach. This must-see attraction near Seaside provides an amazing view of a giant rock coming out of the water. Photographers line up before sunset to capture the scene. Your hotel or visitor’s center will provide low tide schedules for the best photo-ops.

The Promenade

Back in Seaside, The Promenade is perfectly placed along the coast to help you find more things to do. You can find a movie theater on the north end. Then, across from the movie house is an outlet mall.

Another unique feature in Seaside is Broadway. It is full of tacky sights you expect to see in a beach town. There are bumper cars, skeeball, a carousel, mini-golf, unique shops, art galleries, restaurants, a train ride, and other things to do. All of this is packed into five short blocks near the ocean. If you visit Seaside, you will find yourself strolling Broadway numerous times.

Other Things to Do in Seaside

Seaside is all about the beach. But, you can also visit a new library that opened in 2008. There is also the Lewis and Clark Saltworks tied to the famous Oregon Trail exploration.

There are so many things to do in Seaside that you will spend hours taking in the beautiful sights and visiting the interesting places in this beach town.
