Pretty Ojai is set in a valley between the Topatopa Mountains. This laid-back town features a warm climate, places to play and local artists.
For a taste of Ojai, head here. Every Sunday, dozens of farmers and local crafts people gather to offer fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, you'll also find ready-to-eat foods including soup and a wide variety of desserts. Look for locally caught seafood and organic eggs. Look just outside of the city for miles of orange groves. Many growers offer fresh oranges you can buy at roadside stands.
The mild local climate makes it wonderful to be outdoors all year long. For a view of the entire area walk the 1.5 mile Shelf Road trail. The trail heads across the first ridge of the mountains and allows dogs. It's not steep so it's an easy walk. Further down, Libby Park has multiple playgrounds, a bandstand for the Ojai Music festival and several tennis courts.
For a day of pampering, head for Spa Ojai. For a small admission fee, you'll find two pools, a sauna, a fully equipped gym and many spa treatments. Several kinds of classes are offered here each day so you can always find one to help you get in shape.
The Ojai Valley Museum has a collection of art focused on the history and culture of the area. See artifacts from the pre-Columbian Indian period as well as modern art from regional artists including paintings and sculpture.
