Designed by Franciscan Friars in 1845, its a glimpse into India’s colonial past. For a small fee, you can climb underground and explore a maze of crypts and tunnels. At the turn of the 20th century, the cemetery served as a meeting place for Revolutionaries. Decades later, it was a hideout for guerilla fighters during World War II. While you may hesitate to add this to your list of things to do, give it a shot. You’ll find it difficult not to be impressed by the style, mystique, and history of the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery.
