Mojacar Things to Do
Mojacar Spain is a beautiful coastal area with beaches to enjoy and much more. Visitors who have gone before have listed these activities as some of the best things to do in Mojacar Spain.
For cycling enthusiasts, this is the perfect spot! Mojacar has been a base for many cyclists for the winter training camps, so if its good enough for the professionals then its good enough for eager travelers. Try renting two high end road bikes (MTB are available too) from rockroadnsurfadventures situated on the playa. They’ll take you on a guided tour of some local routes and then you can head out on your own in the days that follow. You may even get invited out on their club rides. You’ll find the cycling to be simply fantastic! The road to Carboneres is stunning. It’s hard work to climb the mountain but the views are amazing! All in all it’s one of the best places to cycle, and you’ll find the people and other riders are friendly, and the beach bars are a great place to relax after a hard day of riding.
The weekly market is held on Wednesday mornings up in the Mojacar Pueblo. If you can walk there or get a bus, do so, because Parking can be a problem. It is a full market with just about everything on display that anyone could ever want or need. You may be attracted to a ceramics stall displaying more than the usual highly coloured Mediterranean “pots” but also all kinds of domestic and decorative wares in the more subdued colours of northern Europe. The stall is run by an Irish couple – Roger Walker and Breda Lowth. They offered pottery and painting courses at their home and if you should come across them and feel like a day at the Potter’s wheel or with a paintbrush in your hand it would truly be a day to remember.
A wild-west town set deep in the mountains near Tabernas, this town is where many of the great “westerns” such as “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly” filmed in the 1960s. A great day out for all the family with shows and fun. This place reminds you of the Wild Wild West! Nowadays you will also recognize it as the town where David Beckham’s recent Coca Cola advert was filmed! Wonderful shows just about every day!
