Nestled in the Adirondack Mountains, beautiful Lake George offers year-round fun for the whole family.
The whole family will love the Great Escape amusement park. It has plenty of rides, a huge wooden roller coaster, cartoon characters, and a water park for those hot summer days. For more water rides and an huge wave pool, visit Waterslide World. With a miniature golf course on every other corner, Lake George may be the capital of miniature golf. If your heart can take it, check out Dr. Morbid's Haunted House. A sinister tour guide leads you through the haunted house where evil spirits and corpses jump at you throughout.
Not far from downtown, campers will enjoy Battleground State Campground. It’s clean (with hot showers, bathrooms) and each site has its own fireplace. Lake George has plenty of hiking trails. Cooler weather and colorful foliage make hiking in the fall even better. For the adventurous, whitewater rafting is available down near the Hudson River Gorge. Rent a boat and really get to know the thirty-two-mile long lake. It has plenty of little beaches and spots to stop and picnic.
The Adirondack Winery & Tasting Room makes all their wine right on premise. They also have a surprisingly wide selection of wine for such a small place. The “Adirondack," from Shoreline Cruises, offers a fireworks dinner cruise on the weekend in summer. Drive a half hour to Bolton’s Landing for the best views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
