Gua Musang is a small railway town located in the country of Malaysia. It isn’t an especially busy town, but there are still a few things to do when in the region.

The Old and New Town

Gua Musang began life as a railway town and has modernized over the years. The town was originally quite remote and unconnected to the rest of the country. It wasn’t until the rail line was built in the 1980s that it became connected to the rest of Malaysia. The city has grown, and today, Pekan Lama is still the town center. This is the best place to go find banks and restaurants. There’s also a bus terminal and a market in the area. The older parts of town are much less modernized, though Gua Musang as a whole remains a small, quiet place.

Guanyin Temple

Guanyin Temple is known widely as the Water and Moon Temple, or phonetically as Shuiyuegong Temple. All activities that take place in the heart of the city center around the temple, which is also said to be the oldest temple in the country. The temple itself has a large court yard where religious activities are held. The temple occasionally hosts festivals, which draws visitors from around the country. Worshippers even come from as far as China during this festive period.
