Corfu Island Things To Do
The northernmost of the Ionian Islands, Corfu is a place of bright colors and gentle beaches. Visiting Corfu can be as active as you like with walks exploring the island’s history. It can also be as relaxing as possible if you want to lounge on a beach.
Old Town
Corfu Island’s old town is a diverse mixture of structures with narrow alleyways that offer shade on hot days. You can see the many cultural influences on the area including French, Norman, British and Venetian. It’s located between two fortresses you can walk through and can get very crowded during the summer.
The Beaches
Corfu has many beaches. For a more unusual trip, head for the northern town of Sidari where you will find large sandstone cliffs filled with small caves and beaches. Paleokastritsa is another beach village with cliffs, hills, sheltered bays and groves of olive and lemon trees.
Lake Korission
Created hundreds of years ago, the artificial freshwater lake is a paradise for bird-lovers. Dozens of bird species flock here to rest during their migration or make their home in the marshes. Walk along the shores and you’ll often spot wading birds including the black winged stilt and greenshank.

Bring your kids here for a day away from the beaches. There are fifteen pools, including a wave pool, a lazy river, and a splash area for the little ones. Adults can relax under shaded areas and dip their toes in the water.
