Coco Cay Things to Do
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is a fantastic way to explore the waters of the Caribbean on your own and to see dozens of varieties of tropical fish. The waters in Coco Cay are crystal clear, offering excellent visibility. A snorkeling mask and fins can be rented for a small fee of $15, or you can bring your own. There are plenty of lounge chairs and shaded areas on Coco Cay to drop your beach bags while you’re swimming.
The water is fairly shallow here, so even deeper parts aren’t far from spots where you can stop and stand if necessary. The wave activity around the island is also pretty calm, so there won’t be a lot of sand being kicked up to block the spectacular views.
Kayaking
If you aren’t one to swim or stay underwater for long periods of time, a kayak excursion might be a great alternative. Since the waters are so clear along this beach, even kayakers can spot fish under the surface while staying relatively dry. The kayak adventure excursion costs $38, which covers the boat rental and the 90-minute tour, which is led by an experienced guide.
The guide will lead the group away from the main shore of Coco Cay, enabling paddlers to get a nice view of the island before sharing information about the wildlife and eco-system there. Paddlers are given time to beach their kayaks and do some shell searching before heading back to the main shore.
Parasailing
Feeling a little adventurous? There’s no better way to get amazing views of the area surrounding the island than going parasailing. For $79 per person, you’ll enjoy a 45-minute boat ride around the island and an approximately 5-6 minute turn sailing through the air. There are several departure times offered during the day. The crew is knowledgeable and friendly and will make sure you are completely safe during your adventure.
Glass Bottom Boat Tour
Looking for something a bit more relaxing? A glass bottom boat tour allows you to sit back, relax and watch the underwater world bustle beneath you while someone else does the driving. An excellent option for older guests, children, or people who don’t want to get into the water, the glass bottom boat excursion lasts approximately 90 minutes and features informative narration. Crew members also dive down to pick up items such as starfish to show guests. A very affordable excursion at $38 for adults and $28 for children. You might also spot sea turtles, dolphins, and more.
