Cleethorpes Things to Do
Cleethorpes is one of the more unique towns in the UK. Here are some of the things you can do while visiting.
Lollipop Land Train
You know those small kid trains that snake around your local mall, giving children a fun little ride? This is basically the adult version. The Lollipop Land Train is essentially an off-track vehicle constructed to look like a train with attached cars running behind it. It is still a pretty fun time for both kids and adults, and a great little way to travel across town without worrying about traffic.
The pier in Cleethorpes has been around since 1873. You can walk around the sandy beach while in town (the water is generally cold, though) or you can stop by the pier and visit some of the different shops and restaurants within the covered pier. Having the covering makes it possible to visit throughout the year.
Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway
The light railway is a very similar size to the land train. This actually is a train and it does run on a track, but it is undersized. The conductor doesn’t even have a full car to sit in. It’s more of just a singular seat and an engine in front of him. The cabin cars are a bit on the smaller side, but the light railway provides a great view of the Cleethorpes coast.
The Greenwich Meridian line runs through the city. There is a marker here, so it is possible to stand right on the line. This is a spot that doesn’t take long and you can visit for a few minutes before moving on to the next activity.
