Cassis Things to Do
Cassis, located in southern France, is a Mediterranean fishing port. A chateau that is centuries-old overlooks this fishing port. Cap Canaille
If you love nature and are ready for a challenge, one thing that you can do is go on Cap Canaille. Cap Canaille is a large rock that you will see to your left when you’re in the harbor of Cassis, France. This is a very tough hike and if you ask locals for directions to Cap Canaille, they may look at you incredulously. The way up the rock is quite steep, as you will likely be able to see.
You should ask for the Route des Cretes, which is considered the trail for tourists. It goes to La Ciotat over the massif. The most difficult part of the journey will be getting to the trailhead. Once, you’re on the trailhead, the journey is not that difficult. You will also be able to see some breathtaking views of Cassis, the Mediterranean, the harbor, and the calanques once you get to the top. Before you decide to go on Cap Canaille, it is important that you keep in mind that it is the highest sea cliff on the entire continent of Europe. The drop is 394 meters. Coming down the rock is much easier than coming up the rock. This is particularly true if you’re coming down in the afternoon when the wind is blowing.
Casino Barriere
If you have some money that you don’t mind risking for the chance of winning big, you can go to Casino Barriere, which is a large casino. This casino is located a few blocks away from the harbor. You can take a bus to the casino, as there is a bus stop right in front of it. The hours of Casino Barriere are from 10 AM in the morning to dawn. There are restaurants, live entertainment, standard casino games, and dancing in this casino.
Boat Trip to the Calanques
One must do in Cassis is taking a boat trip to the Calanques. The price of the tour is as low as 16 Euros and as high as 22 Euros. The cost will depend on which tour you purchase. The views of gorgeous and the color of the water is simply breathtaking. Be sure to bring a camera so that you will be able to take pictures throughout the tour for memories once you go home.
