Known for being quite touristic, Cape Coast, an exciting and beautiful fishing port, offers visitors a variety of adventurous things to do.

Historical Castle

Cape Coast Castle is the biggest tourist attraction of Cape Coast. It is built on a rock in the sea and is surrounded on three sides by the beautiful blue Gulf of Guinea. Thousands of slaves were imprisoned in the dungeons of the castle, awaiting their walk through the “gate of no return” which was the path of their departure on ships to the New World.

Tourists exit the dungeons with an amazing view of the fishing boats. The fishing boats are among the most photographed places in Ghana.

Kakum National Park

The park is about 1 hour from Cape Coast and has seven scary bridges for those seeking a little more than just regular hiking. The Canopy junglewalk is made up of hanging bridges made from rope. It is the world’s longest and highest hanging bridge.

Beaches

The coast is lined with beautiful palm trees and the smells and sounds of the waves rushing back and forth in the sunshine. Among the many beaches, Brenu beach is about 30 km from Cape Coast and is the most famous. The drive has beautiful seashore view’s.

Fort’s

Cape Coast Castle, Fort William, and Fort Victoria made up a triangle of protection during the British era. Today Fort William is a lighthouse and Fort Victoria is closed but you may still visit for free. There is a great view over the city and of course the blue sea.
