Things to Do in Calpe, Spain

Calpe Things to Do

The city of Calpe is a near perfect combination of romantic village together with sun and beach. Below are the must-see attractions to have on your itinerary during your visit.

Ifach Rock

This massive rock has been inspiring people from everywhere to come and enjoy the nearly perfect view around the bays and the Costa Blanca.  Sometimes it’s referred to as the Northern Rock to distinguish it from the Rock of Gibraltar. You can climb it, walk, or even go through a tunnel to reach the top.  On a clear day, you can see all the way to Ibiza.

Wild Life Sanctuary

Noah’s Ark wildlife sanctuary between Guadalest and Benimantel is well worth a visit. It rescues mainly zoo animals or strange pets which have been mal treated and survives on charity. It’s quite a unique experience, being the middle of the Spanish countryside, on the side of a hill looking at lions, tigers, camels and bears.

Torre del Moli

The flour mill is one of the many mills that once existed in the costa blanca region. Originally it was a watch tower to protect the coastline from pirate attacks. Later in the middle of the 19th century a flour mill was built on top of the original foundations of the watch tower.

Fuentes del Algar

The Algar waterfalls are located just outside of the town of Callosa de Ensarria. Here you can see some beautiful waterfalls and a natural pool, where you can have a swim during summer season.

Polop

Explore this village and learn the local lingo. Improve your Spanish while you visit with the locals. Polop is located about 14 miles on the way to Benidorm. Visit the old town and to the beautiful fountain with more of 200 spouts.

Take a Stroll

Take in the scenery of the famous rock and the beach on the Paseo Principe de Asturias. This street has the best view of both.  Some of the sand sculptures on the beach are quite fantastic.  Enjoy watching the sun set over the white, sandy beach. This is a romantic hot spot you’ll surely remember.

A Fisherman’s Dream

Whether you enjoy fishing for salmon, trout or barbel, you will find it all here when you go inland fishing. Off the coast, you can catch mackerel and grey mullet. For those who don’t get sea sick, salt water fishing off a boat can be exciting.  You can catch a swordfish or a big-toothed pompano. Caple has many fishing competitions in the summer.
