Taxis, Ho Chi Minh City

Transportation in Ho Chi Min City: Taxis

Taxis are inexpensive and easy to find on many streets in Ho Chi Minh City. Fares are some of the least expensive in the entire world.

Taxis From the Airport

There’s a taxi stand in the airport where you will find several taxi companies. If you have a larger party, the taxi companies can get you a bigger taxi. Some cabs will charge you an airport fee, but this is a scam. If they insist, you should look to hire another taxi.

Using Uber

Uber is a handy app to to have in Ho Chi Minh City, because the driver won’t be able to overcharge you.

White Cabs

There are many different cab companies in the city marked by their different colors. Many locals consider the best cabs to be the white ones called Vinasun and Mai Linh. The white cabs come from two companies that are noted for offering better services and trustworthy drivers. White cabs can be called from your hotel to pick you up directly or they can be hailed on the streets.

Avoiding Scams

Unfortunately, many taxi companies in this city have a bad reputation. Always agree on the fare with the driver before getting in and travel with others whenever possible. You should also keep a match of the city ready and let the driver know if you think you’re veering off course.
