Transportation in Marrakesh By Taxi/ By Petit Taxi / By Grand Taxi

Marrakesh is one of the biggest cities in Morocco is one of the most popular cities in the area for tourism. The cuisine is amazing and there a number of events and festivals held there throughout the year. The ancient city is surrounded by walls and is one of the four Imperial Cities of Morocco. If you are planning a visit to Morocco, here are some tips on getting around in the city.

Learn How to Take Cabs Like a Local

If you feel like you are getting overcharged when you take cabs in the city, take some tips from the locals in the area and take cabs the way they do. In most countries, you want to work out a price with the driver before they leave. This isn’t the case in Morocco. You will always get a better deal if they run the meter. If they refuse to run the meter, get out and get into another cab. This tip is for the red petit cabs as the other cabs do not have meters.

Two Types of Taxis

The two types of taxis in Morocco are the grand and the petit taxis. The difference is obviously in their sizes. It is advisable to take the petit taxis if you are just traveling within the town and are going down some of the narrow and winding streets that go through the city. They are also usually a little bit cheaper. The grand taxis are bigger and more comfortable, making them ideal for excursions out of town and airport runs. If you are taking a bigger vehicle, you can offer to share with others to help reduce your cost.
