Taipei is a major cultural center for the nation of Taiwan and a major destination for travelers in the country. Before visiting, keep in mind a few tips about what to pack.
During the summer, things get pretty hot and humid. Visitors often wear tank tops or t-shirts to avoid the heat as much as possible. Even in the winter, the weather stays fairly warm and the humidity remains. Things do cool down, but don’t expect freezing temperatures. However, you may want to bring an umbrella, since the rains can be pretty heavy in the spring. If you are arriving anytime between April and August, you’ll also want to bring a raincoat. Since the winds can pick up significantly at times, bringing a windbreaker won't hurt. Finally, if you’re planning to head to the beaches, don’t forget some swimwear.
Clothes to Pack
Though you can bring toiletries and medical supplies, Taipei is decently stocked with most of what you might need. However, if you’re working from a budget, you’ll want to bring whatever you can. The pharmacies can be just slightly on the pricey side. When visiting the country, you’ll also want to bring insect repellant and sunscreen. Insects can pose a significant problem in parts of the city, making repellent a necessity. Sunscreen, on the other hand, will protect you against the sunny environment of Taipei.
