Sydney – What to Pack – Clothing and Supplies Tips

Sydney What to Pack

Sydney is the most heavily populated city in Australia, and all of Oceania. Visitors to the area will want to keep in mind a few tips about clothing, supplies, and what to pack.

Luggage

No matter what you have planned for your Sydney adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

General Clothing

What to wear depends heavily on what you intend to do while in Sydney. While there are some general things you can bring for the weather, you’ll want to bring more rugged clothes if you intend to do any hiking or marching outside the city.

Generally, Sydney is warm and hot year-round, with some cooler temperatures during the spring and fall. Sydney is a very casual city, and so low-key clothing is recommended for visitors. Tourists can take a few pair of jeans, some loose-fitting t-shirts, skirt or shorts in the summer, dressy slacks, comfy walking shoes, dressy high heeled shoes or sandals, or a few casual dressy tops.

Visitors travelling toward the fall or winter will want to take a jacket in case it gets cool. While it can be humid in the evenings during the summer, you will still need a warm jacket or pullover for the evening. If you’re planning on doing any bush walking through the National Parks, then a sturdy pair of comfortable hiking shoes are a must.

If you’re going to be spending a bit of time on the beach, then bring sun protective clothing, a broad brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. These will save you from getting too much exposure. Other options when going to the beach include taking a bathing suit and a beach towel. Also, don’t forget to bring along beach accessories such as flip flops.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies

Toiletries and Medical Supplies are plentiful at any chemist. If you have prescription medicines, the best advice is to bring some spares with you. However, in an emergency, you won’t have too many hassles getting your hands on some. If you do forget to bring anything critical, basic goods are available in Sydney and the prices are typically reasonable.

Power

Anyone traveling abroad is advised to purchase a power converter and an adaptor kit. These kits includes all the adaptors you might need for any particular country. If you forget to take your own adapter, most hotels in Sydney will loan you one at a fee. This fee is deducated from your overall bill once you return it. Australian plugs are quite different from those found in other parts of the world, and especially different from those found in the U.S.
