Sun City Things to Do
Sun City has so many marvelous things to do including nature parks, water parks, resort casinos, and many family attractions.
Water Parks
Valley of the Waves
This is an enormous inland beach park with wave machines making waves to body surf and a water slide with a thrilling 90-degree drop. Take the kids and they will think you found paradise on earth.
The Heated Pool at the Cascades Hotel
If you visit Sun City during the wintertime, it can be quite cold so it is not a pleasant time for swimming, unless you visit the heated pool at the Cascades hotel. The swimming pool with warmed water is a delightful temperature, even in winter.
Bush Hotels
If you want to get away from the large hotel casino resorts to stay in a more natural setting, there are smaller “bush” hotels such as Tshukudu Bush Lodge or Bakubung Bush Lodge. The accommodations are simpler than the resort casinos; however, you can really enjoy watching the wildlife and beautiful sunsets from the balcony of your cabana.
Family Attractions
The Arcade at the Entertainment Centre
The Entertainment Centre is across from the Cascades hotel. You can have lots of fun playing the newest video games as well as enjoy some vintage favorites like “skee ball.”
Kwena Gardens
Take the family to see crocodiles, meerkats, and iguanas at the Kwena gardens. It is both an adventure and an educational experience.
Casino Resorts
Sun City and The Lost City
These two resorts are next to each other. They were built by the same man, Sol Kersner. He had a dream of making a luxury resort out of the rugged desert land. Here you will find fun casinos, a water park feature with beaches, waves, and rides called “Waterworld,” and all the amenities of a five-star resort.
The first “Sun City” casino resort was so successful, that developers built another, more opulent one, “The Lost City,” with a palace feature that has rooms only the rich and famous can afford to stay in.
Sun City also has the “The Hall of Treasures,” which is a huge jungle-themed casino. There you will find slots galore, video poker, table games like blackjack and regular poker, American-style roulette, and a game called punto banco.
Superb Luxury Hotels
The Palace at the Lost City
This is the most expensive hotel in Sun City. The design is meant to resemble ruins. The lobby is filled with beautiful mosaics. There are marvelous features such as balustrades made from crystal leading to the Crystal Court. If you do not stay at the hotel you can have an afternoon tea in the Crystal Court with its ceilings that are 40 feet high. You can take a nice walk outside through an area filled with enormous animal figures that leads to the Entertainment Centre.
