Stockholm Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Stockholm Shopping

While Stockholm isn’t known first and foremost for its shopping, there are plenty of shops you can hit once you have decided to stop taking in the. There are certain places you should hit that stand out from the pack.

Gamla Stan (The Old Town)

Gamla Stan, which translate in English to The Old Town. This entire area has basically been set up in order to be a tourist stop that people can spend a day shopping and taking in the sights. Some of the shops are higher end, but quite a few of them are set up to sell certain things that Sweden is well known for. Those looking for Swedish dolls will certainly be able to find those kinds of little dolls that are so well known in the area. The Old Town is going to have a little bit of everything for people who are wanting to go home with something they can show off from their trip abroad.

Drottninggatan

This is the largest shopping district in Sweden with a ton of different shops and stores all along the way. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink when shopping has become a bit tiring. Among the shops that people can check out are some rather famous Swedish places like the biggest store on the block such as Ahlens. There is also the rather famous Paul & Bergstrom. This place is similar to areas in the United States like the Miracle Mile in Chicago. Those tourists who want to go to either high end or touristy stops can find both when they are walking through this part of the country.

Slottsboden

While there are tourists stops all along the way in Stockholm, Slottsboden, otherwise known as the Royals gift shop is the place where you can find the most touristy gifts in one place. This is a rather large store that has all kinds of things that simply scream “I went to Stockholm.” You will find whatever you are looking for, from the truly tacky, to things that are a bit classier remembrances of your trip. You’ll be able to spend plenty of money here and you’ll be able to load down you luggage with keepsakes should you choose.
