State Department Publishes Checklist for Older Travelers

The State Department recently released a checklist for older travelers, offering advice on how to prepare for upcoming trips. Although targeted at seniors, the checklist actually has some pretty good tips for travelers of any age.

The list reminds travelers to learn about their destination ahead of time, check their passport validity, inform their banks/credit card companies about travel plans, and to consider purchasing travel insurance.

Other helpful tips are aimed at anyone on prescription medication, including: “know the generic name for your medication as those generic names may be more recognizable at pharmacies in a foreign country.”

The printable checklist includes space to write down important information, such as your passport number, emergency contact, and contact information for the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
