Split Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Split Nightlife

Split is the second largest city in Croatia, and is a popular tourist destination with plenty of nightlife.

Clubs

Around the beach area, about a 15 minutes’ walk from the town, there is some fantastic nightlife with many bars and clubs. Everyone makes a beeline for this area at around 11:00 in evening, or even earlier. The bars stay open until the morning light so you can party the night away. Ico is a small club on the inside, but it has a nice terrace in the summertime. The interior is decorated with couches and the walls are filled with interesting paintings and photos. The club is also decorated with all sorts of ornaments. The atmosphere is comfy and low key. Plus, if you are a chess lover, there are places where you can sit and play a game.

Academia Ghetto Club is a swank little bar nestled deep in the crevasses of the palace. This is the place to go to enjoy some deep house music and stiff drinks. Although it would be hard to guess from the outside, there is a relatively lively atmosphere on the inside. Finally, you can also visit O’Hara, which was formerly known as Shakespeare. This is a night club by the sea that plays live music. This place is not conveniently located downtown, so it’s easy to miss. However, it still has great appeal due to the views of the sea.

Riva

Along the harbor, there is a street lined with trees, cafes, and restaurants. This is one of the nicest places to spend time in Split, and is used as a meeting place by locals. The Riva seaside promenade is where the inhabitants of Split go to unwind. Most places along this route stay open until 11 in the evening, and it’s a great place to stop and have a good cup of coffee. A few places even have TVs to watch sporting events.

Bacvice

The complex of bars, cafes, and restaurants at Bacvice is the place to spend an evening when visiting Split. Split’s old town shuts down fairly early in the evening, but a few cafes and restaurants remaining open after dark. Therefore, much of the city’s nightlife is centered around Bacvice. Visitors are warned to check the schedule of the establishments here, as there are a few that are only open beginning on Wednesday.
